A Major League Baseball team who is currently playing at the East Division of the American League, the New York Yankees are one of the league’s charter members. The team is based in Bronx, New York and were established as the Baltimore Orioles in Baltimore, Maryland back in 1901. They relocated to New York City and were then named the New York Highlanders. The name New York Yankees became their official name in 1913. The Yankee Stadium became their home park where they played their home games from 1923 to 2008. It was considered to be one of the most iconic sporting arenas in the world. They moved to another stadium which had the same name in 2009. They are known for some of the most famous players in the history of professional baseball such as Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle and Babe Ruth.
