Based in Arlington, Texas, the Texas Rangers are a Major League Baseball team and currently play in the Western Division of the American League. They are an American professional baseball team who plays their home games at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas. They have the same name as the famous law enforcement agency in the same area. They were founded in 1961 and were originally named as the Washington Senators, being an expansion franchise in Washington, D.C. They became the Twins as they moved to Minnesota and then relocated to Arlington, Texas as the new Senators. The next spring, they were finally named the Texas Rangers.
