A member of the National Basketball Association (NBA), the Toronto Raptors play in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. The team is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and was a result of NBA’s Canadian expansion. As the previous Vancouver Grizzlies moved to Memphis, Tennessee, the Toronto Raptors were left as the only NBA team situated in Canada. Founded in 1995, the SkyDome (now known as the Rogers Centre) served as their home court where they played their home games. In 1999, they left the SkyDome and moved to the Air Canada Centre. The team has been through rough times during its early years but was able to recuperate in 1998 when Vince Carter became one of its players.
