Based in Denver, Colorado, the Colorado Avalanche is an American professional ice hockey team founded in 1972.  They are a member of the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Northwest Division of the Western Conference.  They were originally founded as members of the World Hockey Association in 1972 and were then called the Quebec Nordiques.  They joined the National Hockey League in 1979 and used the same name until 1995 when they were renamed the Colorado Avalanche.  The team plays their home games at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.  Steel blue, white, silver, burgundy and black are their official colors.  At present, the team’s head coach is Joe Sacco and their general manager Stan Kroenke.  They have won a total of eight division titles ever since their establishment, won 2 Stanley Cups in 1996 and 2001, 2 Presidents’ Trophies in 1997 and 2001 and 2 conference championships in 1996 and 2001 as well.  Looking for Colorado Avalanche snapbacks?
