The professional ice hockey team Florida Panthers are based in Sunrise, Florida in Miami metropolitan area. They are members of the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League. When measured in points percentage, the Florida Panthers are actually one of the least successful teams in League history. They had the eight-worst record in NHL when compared to active teams. They had only reached the playoffs three times out of their seventeen seasons which is 17.6 % making them the third worst of the active teams.  On 2010, the team tried to be on the playoff hockey in South Florida. They hired Dale Tallon to be the new general manager. Tallon was a general manager for the Chicago Blackhawk team who then won the Stanley Cup.
